Zalat Pizza won’t push through in Dallas

Just a month ago, the hype for Zalat Pizza was huge as it was anticipated by East Dallas but unfortunately, they will not be pushing through according to a Dallas Morning News article from March 23. They say,

“Zalat founder and CEO Khanh Nguyen says the lease came with a “complex legal structure” and that the number of parking spaces wasn’t adequate to do business there.

The pizza joint would have gone in next door to Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House and Hello Dumpling, two Dallas-born restaurants that contribute to a packed parking lot in the evenings — and to a lively atmosphere in that elbow of Dallas, east of White Rock Lake.

Zalat would have moved into the former 20 Feet Seafood Joint, a beloved neighborhood restaurant that has been closed since the beginning of the pandemic.”

Despite not pushing through in East Dallas, Zalat Pizza of Dallas which features handmade pizzas will still be opening in Richardson according to a WhatNowDFW article March 21. They say,

“Coming to 1551 E Renner Rd, the forthcoming pizzeria will occupy suite 810 at CityLine Market, right between Pho is for Lovers and Piada Italian Street Food. An exact opening date has not yet been announced, but Community Impact reports that it “is coming this spring.”

Born and bred in Dallas, Zalat Pizza was launched in 2015 by founder and CEO, Khanh Nguyen. The first restaurant opened on Fitzhugh Ave in Dallas. Earlier this month, the brand open its 17th North Texas location on 950 W Stacy Rd in Allen. The brand has 16 other locations across North Texas including in Addison, Denton, Frisco, and Plano.

Some of Zalat’s creatively topped handmade pizzas include The Reuben which comes topped with shaved corned beef, Swiss cheese, and housemade 1000 Island sauce; Pho Shizzle which includes chicken, red bell peppers, caramelized onions, and swirls of hoisin and sriracha; and Pepperoni Masterclass – a New York pizza perfection that features 100% all-beef pepperoni, oregano, black pepper, and crushed garlic.”

Just last month, Zalat opened its doors to Allen as they continue to expand and grow despite the effects of the pandemic still ongoing according to a Local Profile article from February 16. They say,

“Pizza-favorite Zalat is quickly spreading across north Texas. Their 17th location is set to open in Allen this month. While their Allen location will strictly offer take-out and delivery, their new ghost kitchen will allow Collin County residents more of an opportunity to get their hands on these delicious signature pies.

“We are eager to offer a more convenient location for our fans living in the Allen and McKinney area who have been driving to surrounding cities such as Plano to get their Zalat fix,” said Nguyen in a statement.”

With stores fixed in Richardson, Allen, Plano and Frisco, Ngyuen is still relentless in looking for an East Dallas location as he believes that an East Dallas location would be highly beneficial and appreciated by the people.
