{"id":12368,"date":"2022-01-11T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/advancedskinfitness.com\/?p=12368"},"modified":"2022-02-24T03:02:22","modified_gmt":"2022-02-24T03:02:22","slug":"art-contest-in-richardson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/advancedskinfitness.com\/blog\/art-contest-in-richardson\/","title":{"rendered":"Art Contest in Richardson"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Richardson will be conducting an art contest to showcase local talent and help the liven up the community by designing traffic signal boxes according to a Dallas Morning News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/arts-entertainment\/things-to-do\/2022\/01\/15\/richardson-seeking-wildflower-themed-art-for-display-across-city\/\">article<\/a> from January 15 which reports,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cAn art contest by the city of Richardson and the Richardson Kiwanis Club is seeking five original wildflower-themed designs that will be featured as vinyl wraps on traffic signal boxes at intersections throughout the community.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Artists that live in Richardson and students attending a school within Richardson are eligible to enter, the city announced.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The contest\u2019s goal is to feature local artists, help beautify the city and increase community pride.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cArt installations are a meaningful part of our city\u2019s identity, and the designs selected from our traffic signal box art contest will share visually engaging artwork created by Richardson artists that honor our community and welcome visitors,\u201d Assistant City Manager Shanna Sims-Bradish said in a statement. \u201cOur wildflowers contest theme provides a significant connection to the upcoming spring season and Richardson\u2019s well-known, vibrant floral displays in parks and medians each year.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional guidelines and rules for the design to be submitted were posted on the city\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cor.net\/our-city\/arts-and-culture\/traffic-signal-box-art-contest\">website<\/a> wherein it says,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>\u201cOnly digital submissions will be accepted.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Artists should submit a digital design that can be converted to a digitally printed wrap.&nbsp; Changes to the design may be required to accommodate site requirements.<\/em><\/li><li><em>All artwork must be the artist\u2019s own original work.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Designs must include all visible sides to the traffic signal box including the tops of the traffic signal cabinet and UPS unit. The bottom of the traffic signal cabinet and UPS unit are not visible.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Design must not contain representations of traffic lights, signs or signals.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Designs may not include any breach of intellectual property, trademarks, brands, logo or images of illegal activities. Designs should not be any sort of advertisement.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Since traffic signal boxes are located in public locations, artwork should be appropriate to all ages, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds.<\/em><\/li><li><em>The design should include little to no print, as it is distracting to try and read while driving.<\/em><\/li><li><em>The finished artwork will be used in the public domain and therefore may be subject to vandalism. Accordingly, artists should be thoughtful about having large open areas in their design.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Artists are invited to sign their boxes. Signatures cannot occupy more than 1\/8\u201d of the area of the traffic signal box where they are placed.\u201d<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While the date of determining the winning designs are yet to be posted, the deadline for submission was already decided which will be on February 28 at 5 in the afternoon.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Richardson will be conducting an art contest to showcase local talent and help the liven up the community by designing traffic signal boxes according to a Dallas Morning News article from January 15 which reports,&nbsp;
