What is Velashape 3™ and how does it help to reduce cellulite?

VelaShape 3™ is a safe, fast, non-invasive body contouring treatment for circumference & cellulite reduction.

Velashape 3™ is a cellulite and circumference reduction treatment that uses radiofrequency, infrared light energy and vacuum to deep heat fat cells that encompass the joining tissue and the collagen in the dermal layer of the skin. The mechanical massage of the vacuum triggers the collagen reproduction and elastin. The results are a reduction in cellulite, a contoured shape, more tone, less body volume, a slimmer figure, tighter skin and smoother texture.

Cellulite is an embarrassing problem that affects as many as 90% of women. It can keep you from feeling comfortable wearing shorts or a swimsuit and can be almost impossible to get rid of on your own. That’s because contrary to common belief, cellulite doesn’t just affect overweight people. Since it has to do with the collagen structure beneath your skin, even very thin people can have this problem. Fortunately, you don’t have to hide under long pants and behind swimsuit coverups any more thanks to two revolutionary new treatments that we at Advanced Skin Fitness are proud to offer two state of the art procedures that address cellulite more effectively than ever previously possible.

Most women are all too familiar with the not-so-attractive skin condition known as cellulite. It’s the dimply, cottage cheese looking collection of fat that forms underneath the dermis and epidermis of the skin. Cellulite is often found on the hips, thighs, stomachs and buttocks and can be extremely difficult to minimize, especially for women. It happens when underlying fat deposits start to push their way through connective tissue under the skin or layers of collagen fibers.

Although a small percentage of men develop cellulite, it’s most common in women, affecting about 80 to 90 percent of them in their lifetime. An explanation for the higher incidence of cellulite in women is that their fat cells are divided into compartments that are formed in a honeycomb pattern. Because of this shape, fat is allowed to protrude through the connective tissue, which gives the appearance of an uneven skin surface. Men have a criss-cross structure, so fat doesn’t push through connective tissue like it does on most women.

Even though women have a different pattern than men, which makes them more likely to develop cellulite, not all women have this issue. There are structural factors that differentiate women without cellulite from women who have cellulite. Women who don’t develop cellulite usually have a pattern that does not encourage fat to bulge up and onto the dermis, which is similar to the pattern of men. The fat actually expands across and not upward and outward, preventing the fat to reach the dermis.

For women who have cellulite, their condition tends to worsen if they’re inactive. Inactivity decreases circulation, which prevents the proper amount of oxygen from reaching the affected area. It also lowers collagen production. As a result, fat cells enlarge causing firm skin to become more fatty.

Consuming an abundance of sugar can also worsen cellulite, especially for inactive people. Sugar can cause the secretion of too much insulin, which can have negative effects. Insulin mediates sugar absorption, but an excessive amount of it will convert sugar into fat. The sugar can also cause a weakening of the skin, along with premature ageing of the connective tissue. The result is often the appearance of cellulite.

Contraceptive pills, patches, injections and intrauterine devices contain estrogen, which can accelerate cellulite by stimulating the expansion of fat cells when it is combined with sugar and inactivity.

Binge eating, along with inactivity, can disturb your calorie balance and cause an excessive deposit of fat cells, especially in the layers where cellulite appears.

Smoking can worsen cellulite by damaging the oxidation process and causing skin inflammation. This can decrease circulation and impair lymph drainage. The skin begins to deteriorate and lose collagen and elastin. Eventually, the blood vessels and connective tissue become damaged.

If women drink alcohol, they run the risk of exacerbating cellulite by increasing cortisol levels. When cortisol levels rise, fat absorption is stimulated in specific areas of the body like the thighs, arms and stomach.

Many women have attempted to reduce their cellulite with creams scrubs and pills with little to no success. To get the most effective results, there are non-invasive, painless techniques that will dramatically reduce cellulite by focusing on increasing circulation, lymphatic drainage and reducing the size of the fat cell.

Velashape 3 uses infrared light energy to deep heat fat cells and stimulate collagen production. At Advanced Skin Fitness, we would like to address the questions and concerns that most women have about cellulite and the cellulite reduction procedures that have proven to be most effective for cellulite reduction.

Velashape 3 can be combined with Coolsculpting for even better results. Velashape can improve the texture that gives a cellulite appearance and Coolsculpting can reduce the fat which amplifies the look of that texture. Lear more here: Dallas Coolsculpting

What are the main causes of cellulite?

Cellulite develops when fat deposits begin to push through layers of collagen fibers or connective tissue beneath the skin and usually occurs in the buttocks, thighs, legs and stomach.

What is lymphatic drainage?

A massage technique that stimulates the lymph system, so that waste fluid is drained from the cells.

If there is a decrease in lymph flow, the connective tissues can get fibrous and push down on the fat cells. As a result the skin may develop the cottage cheese look from what is better known as cellulite.

Will diet and exercise reduce cellulite?

To an extent. For some people diet and exercise may not be enough to eliminate cellulite. If there is no increase in collagen levels, the connective tissue may still allow fat to push through to the dermis. Without improvement to collagen production, cellulite could remain. The issue with diet and exercise is that it affects global fat reduction, but cellulite is improved when fat is reduced where the cellulite exists. You can’t burn fat in a targeted area with targeted exercise contrary to 1980’s thinking which still persists today. That said, you can use treatments like Coolsculpting to target fat in specific areas. If you combine diet, exercise, cellulite treatments and targeted fat reduction treatments like Coolsculpting, you can get better results. Learn more here: Dallas Coolsculpting
