CoolTone™ uses a liquid-cooled applicator applied to the treatment areas to deliver powerful electromagnetic waves through the skin and fat layers, inducing involuntary muscle contractions. These muscle contractions result in microtears to the muscle fibers just like the result of intense exercise. As the muscles heal from these microtears, they become stronger and firmer, resulting in increased muscle size and toning. The patient’s clothing provides a barrier between the CoolTone™ device and the skin to ensure comfort during the treatment.CoolTone™ should not be confused with Coolsculpting. Coolsculpting uses a cooling technology to target fat cells and destroy them which helps to contour the body, while CoolTone™ tones the muscles to give the body a more sculpted appearance.
The treatment can be adjusted for intensity so that each patient can feel comfortable once the muscle contractions begin. The contractions produce an abnormal sensation, but patients should not expect any pain with CoolTone™. Results should be noticeable soon after the initial treatment if patients include a healthy diet and regular exercise in their daily regimen. At Advanced Skin Fitness, safety is a number one priority, so we must caution anyone who is interested in CoolTone™ that the procedure is not performed on areas of the body that contain metal, cardiac pacemakers, implanted hearing devices, hearing aids, drug pumps, implanted defibrillators, electrical devices or implanted neurostimulators. Below are some additional concerns that patients may have.
What is the difference between CoolTone™ and Coolsculpting?
CoolTone™ provides body contouring by targeting muscles for firmness and strength. Coolsculpting targets and destroys fat cells with cooling technology. CoolTone™ body contouring is a non-invasive procedure that uses powerful Magnetic Muscle Stimulation (MMS) technology to penetrate the skin below the fat layer to strengthen and firm muscles in three separate areas of the body; the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.
Coolsculpting a non-invasive fat reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to target, freeze, and kill fat cells in the selected area. The fat cells are eliminated from the body through the natural metabolic process. Learn more: Dallas Coolsculpting
How does CoolTone™ compare to Emsculpt?
Emsculpt sculpts the body by using high intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM) to sculpt the body. CoolTone uses magnetic muscle stimulation (MMS) to contour the body.
Emsculpt and CoolTone both use a technology that causes the muscles to contract, but Emsculpt has applicators for the bíceps, triceps, and calves while CoolTone treats only the abdomen, buttocks, and legs.
CoolTone™ strengthens, tones and firms muscles and there are three areas that targeted: the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. CoolTone also tends to be less costly than Emsculpt.
What areas can be treated with CoolTone™?
There are three main areas that are treated; abdomen, thighs, hamstrings, and buttocks.
What medical conditions should be disclosed to the technician before receiving a CoolTone™ treatment?
CoolTone™ should be used with extreme caution with patients who have malignant tumors, fever, epilepsy, hemorrhaging, pregnancy, Graves’ disease or active bleeding disorders. We cannot treat patients with implanted devices such as a heart defibrillator, pacemaker, or a pain pump. What areas should be avoided with CoolTone™?
Areas that should be avoided are the heart, head, sinuses, neck, mouth, a menstruating uterus, areas that lack normal sensation or areas of new bone growth.
Areas that are swollen, inflamed, infected or have broken out should be avoided. Also, if you have heart problems you should not receive CoolTone™.
Are there side effects associated with CoolTone™?
Some patients may feel some mild soreness post-procedure similar to DOMS after an intense workout. Patients may feel soreness after their CoolTone treatment. It may be similar to the feeling that someone may have after they have experienced an intense workout session. Some people may feel temporary muscle pain, spasm in their muscles, joint pain or redness around the treatment area. By drinking water, you can help to flush out any lactate that may have built up in your muscle tissue and speed up the healing process.
Can CoolTone and Coolsculpting be performed on the same day?
Yes, CoolTone and Coolsculpting can be performed on the same day.
CoolSculpting and CoolTone can be performed consecutively, although it is recommended that CoolSculpting should be performed first and CoolTone performed at least a month afterward. How soon should you notice results after the CoolTone™ treatment?
Patients should feel results in their muscles a few days after they have received the treatment.
You should feel a change in the muscle groups that have been treated within days of the procedure. It may take more time to see results, but it could take a series of treatments to see a significant difference. It’s recommended that patients receive a maintenance treatment every 3 to 6 months. How long do CoolTone™ treatments take?
Treatment sessions take about 30 minutes per targeted area.
How many sessions of CoolTone™ are needed for visible results?
Most patients will need 4 – 6 sessions spaced twice per week. Some patients could need more depending on the condition of the muscles at the beginning of treatment. Maintenance sessions will be needed every month or two to maintain the results of CoolTone.
