What are Dysport and Botox?

Both Dysport and Botox are popular FDA approved neuromodulators which use botulinum toxin type A to temporarily relax the muscles, reducing muscle movement. Both products are a non-surgical solution to soften and prevent moderate to severe lines. The result? A fresh, youthful, and rejuvenated appearance.

What areas can I have treated with Dysport and Botox?

Treatment areas include crow’s feet (lines around the eyes), forehead lines, glabellar lines (lines between the eyebrows), and bunny lines. Another added benefit from the treatment can be a non-surgical brow lift. Patients who choose Dysport, typically see results in 2-4 days, with full results within seven days, whereas patients who choose Botox will not see full results until 7-12 days after treatment. Although both products work for an average of 3-4 months, our Dysport patients typically report longer lasting results.

What’s the difference between Dysport and Botox?

Both Dysport and Botox use the same botulinum toxin type A, however, Dysport is a smaller molecule and therefore disperses more, so more units are used to achieve the same effect as Botox. Dysport’s onset is much faster than that of Botox, so you will see results sooner. Some of our patients also report that Dysport has a more natural look and feel. Treatment costs vary depending on the area of the face that is treated and each patient’s individual needs. Although Dysport and Botox are measured differently, the price per area is about the same as more units of Dysport are required to achieve the same effect.
