3 ways how to protect your skin from pollution

Pollution is constantly flowing around us especially when we are outside our homes doing our daily activities. This makes pollution a very difficult thing to address because we are easily susceptible to it. As such, pollution can constantly and negatively affect the health and appearance of our skin without us being aware most of the time. When this occurs, our collagens in the skin are reduced and diminished greatly. Additionally, our skin barrier takes heavy damage, making our skin vulnerable to different skin conditions such as acne, premature aging, uneven skin tone and texture. 

This is why we need to be seriously aware of pollution and its effects and take care of our skin religiously. Luckily, dealing with pollution is not much of an inconvenience as it is not impossible and it is actually satisfying. But dealing with the impacts of pollution to our skin takes more than just one method or approach. Here are some tips how to effectively and properly fight off pollution: 

  1. Proper diet and exercise

Diet and exercise may seem far too off from protecting your skin from pollution. However, these two are essential in generally keeping your skin healthy. Having healthy skin can mean a lot when pollution is all around because our skin will be protected and the pollution will not automatically damage our skin. 

Proper diet is naturally known to be a good way of helping your skin be protected inside and out. This is especially true when the diet contains vitamins such as Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E and Vitamin K. Additionally, when there is a good diet, chances are the skin is free from oily and high in sugar foods that can aggravate skin conditions and even start skin conditions. 

As for exercising, it helps the skin receive more oxygen and nutrients. This means the skin is able to function better and properly in repairing damages and preventing skin conditions from forming. 

  1. Good skin routine and sleep

Similarly, good skin routine and sleep are able to combat pollution and its effects since these two are capable of making the skin healthy and protected. As such, our skin is not easily susceptible to damage.

Having a good skin routine is very crucial in keeping the negative effects of pollution. One of the best skin routines out there is simply cleaning and moisturizing the skin. Not only are the agents of pollution removed from the skin, but the skin is also protected with a barrier to restore its natural barrier and protect the skin. Another good skin routine is avoiding contact with the skin either through touching, pinching or scratching as these may aggravate the negative impacts of pollution and even skin conditions.

Sleep on the other hand, is one of the best ways to combat the effects of pollution since it is the only time where the skin can effectively and efficiently repair itself and restore its shields. Without proper sleep, skin conditions may arise and the skin becomes more susceptible to pollution and stress. 

  1. Hydration

Hydration is also a good way of combating pollution. This is because water can fight off any pollution that has entered the body and it is also the one that ensures that the body has proper resources to fight them off. Being hydrated will also help prevent skin conditions that are easily susceptible to pollution and its negative impacts.
