A Dermal Filler despite being readily short and convenient is still ultimately a delicate and sensitive procedure. This is due to the fact that the substance injected in the skin is fluid. In fact, even if there is zero downtime, the treated area might still swell or develop redness. There is also a huge chance of bruising. However, these little painless side effects are normal and usually go away after a few days and they do not affect the results of the Dermal Filler.
Nevertheless, Dermal Filler, just like any other treatment, must be followed up with great post-treatment care. To ensure that the treatment achieves its purpose and even help maximize the results, patients and clients are asked to do maintenance. Additionally, there are instructions required so as to afford safety towards the treated area.
AVOID CERTAIN MEDICATIONS
Vitamin E, aspirin and ginseng are some types of medicines that should be avoided in order to prevent further bruising and faster recovery. It is encouraged to avoid these for at least one week after the treatment. For other specific medications, consult the expert or doctor who conducted the Dermal Filler treatment.
COLD COMPRESS
For bruising concerns and problems, cold compress are recommended to address discomfort and swelling. However, the cold compress should not be applied directly and it is limited to 10 minutes every hour on the day of the treatment.
NO PRESSURE
Since the Dermal Fillers are quite sensitive, any pressure in the form of touching, massaging, pinching or even sleeping on the treated area should be avoided for at least 48 hours.
NO EXERCISE
This goes to say that exercising, especially those with strenuous activities and movements, are discouraged.
NO OTHER TREATMENTS
At any cost, do not undergo any treatments that will affect the treated area as it may complicate the results and the treated area itself. Treatments like chemical peels, waxing, laser treatments and skin needling are to be avoided for at least 3 weeks.
FOLLOW UP
Around 3 to 4 weeks after the treatment, it is encouraged that the patient or client return for a follow-up to help understand the current condition of the Dermal Fillers injected. This will also help the expert provide further aftercare tips and instructions to help achieve the best results possible.
