The people behind 42 BBQ Smokehouse + Market are opening a new restaurant called LimeHoney which specializes in Tex-Mex cuisine according to a Dallas Morning News article from July 27. They say,
“LimeHoney Modern Mexican, from the same people behind the new 42 BBQ Smokehouse + Market in Richardson, is a fast-casual restaurant that offers an “elevated dining experience sans the elevated price tag,” according to a press release.
The restaurant is the creation of Todd Conger and Greg Morris, who opened 42 BBQ in May 2022, in the same shopping center where LimeHoney will open Aug. 2.
“We really wanted to make a splash in the world of Tex-Mex and revive the cuisine with LimeHoney’s innovative menu,” said Conger in a prepared statement. “Our goal is to retire from the overdone formulas of classic Tex-Mex ingredients and reintroduce the cuisine to guests with a refreshing take.”
And indeed, this Tex-Mex restaurant is dedicated to their goal as they will be accompanied by chef Boneé who created a special and delightful menu according to a Dallas Culture Map article from August 1. They say,
“Along with chef Boneé, they’re hoping to craft an elevated version of Tex-Mex but without an elevated price tag. Boneé was previously chef at Meddlesome Moth and has worked at Lucky’s Hot Chicken, Fine China, and Flora Street Cafe in Dallas.
The menu includes:
- Albondigas with lime crema
- Brisket Stacked Enchiladas (featuring brisket from sister restaurant 42 BBQ Smokehouse + Market)
- Elote Ribs
- Chicken Skewers, which they hope will become a signature
- Mexican Shrimp Cocktail
- Ceviche
- Tuna Crudo
- tacos with cooked to order tortillas
Service will be fast-casual in an elevated environment, but with a full-service bar and menu of signature cocktails such as the Cannonball Margarita, a margarita with a frozen sangria cannonball.”
The LimeHoney will be open every day from 11AM to 10PM except on Fridays and Saturdays where they will extend until 11PM. But according to the owners, they are planning to add an online ordering for delivery and pickup.
