The pandemic did not stop Fred’s Texas Cafe from serving the neighborhood and in fact, it made Fred’s stronger with their latest look and amenities according to a Dallas Observer article from May 27. They say,
“After more than four decades of serving wonderfully messy burgers in the West 7th neighborhood of Fort Worth, Fred’s Texas Cafe has found a new home just a few miles away from the original. The new spot at 7101 Camp Bowie West officially opened last weekend.
After the original Fred’s opened in 1978, they watched the neighborhood around them flourish. Last year they sold the building and headed west to a bigger space. The new location has a large indoor dining area, a stage for live music and an extended patio with glass garage doors that can be opened on nice days.
Co-owners Terry Chandler and Quincy Wallace made sure to impart a bit of the old space into the new; they trucked over decor from the original location to the new space, including the hallmark truck out front.”
However, Fred’s will not just be having a brand new look on their restaurant since their menu will also get a touch-up with additional items according to a Star Telegram article from May 22 which reports,
“Fred’s is serving burgers and a few menu items now, with the full menu and hours coming back day-by-day through grand opening day in two weeks.
New items include a brunch menu with breakfast tacos and new sourdough biscuits.
The burgers now come 12 ways, including the 3/4-pound Big Fred ($12). The grilled-serrano burger and the chipotle-laced “Diablo Burger” are consistently two of the favorites.
There’s also a sourdough-battered chicken fried steak ($16 with fries and salad). It comes in three varieties, including one with a pepper Jack-stuffed poblano and another covered in queso blanco and taco meat.”
The owners are pleased to announce as well that their restaurant will have more parking spaces to accommodate more customers.
