Ultrasound Skin Tightening with Ulthera vs Radio Frequency Skin Tightening with vShape, Thermage, or Venus Freeze

Sagging skin can be a drastic blow to the appearance. Once someone starts to develop skin laxity, it’s pretty much a downhill droop from there. It’s just one of those facts-of-life things that happen from age, the after effects of an operation, sun damage and loss of collagen, but you don’t have to throw in the towel. There are surgical options available to correct the problem, but who wants their skin cut, pulled and throbbing from weeks of pain? Ugh! No worries. Ulthera is a non-invasive procedure that tightens the skin effectively, painlessly and quickly.

Ulthera is an FDA approved skin tightening laser treatment that lifts and tones sagging skin, especially the eyebrows, the chin, and neck. It’s a non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound waves to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin to deliver heat energy to the saggy areas of the skin, which will eventually generate new collagen.

Now, there are other treatments on the market that offer skin tightening like vShape, Thermage and Venus Freeze, but there are stark differences between these procedures and Ulthera. One major difference is that these other treatments use radiofrequency to deliver heat energy. The Ulthera technology uses ultrasound to bypass the skin, therefore reaching higher temperatures to expedite collagen production and contours on the skin. Ulthera can reach temperatures as high as 65 c versus 42-43 c with the radiofrequency treatments. With Ulthera you should also see results from one treatment. Procedures like vShape, Thermage and Venus Freeze may take a few treatments before there are noticeable results.
By using ultrasound waves the technician can examine the tissue and makeup of the depths of the skin’s surface. The technician is able to see an image of the area, which is reflected on a screen so he/she can specifically target the damaged areas with the heat energy. This method helps to create contours on the face and increase collagen production, so the face and neck are tight, smooth and younger looking.
Because Ulthera is non-invasive, there’s little to no downtime. Patients may experience moderate side effects like redness and slight swelling, but they can return to work soon after having the procedure if they choose to.

Ulthera is not recommended if the patient has keloids, open wounds or dermal, mechanical, metal or electrical implants. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not have the procedure.
If you’re losing the firmness in your neck or notice that your chin is succumbing to gravity, contact us today for your Ulthera treatment.
