After 2 years of hiatus, Richardson will finally hold their Wildflower Festival this coming May to feature different music performances as well as competitions according to a Dallas Morning News article from February 15. They say,

“Richardson’s Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival will return to in-person events on May 20 to 22 in Galatyn Urban Park, 2351 Performance Drive.

For the past two years, the festival was held virtually because of the pandemic.

This year’s festival will feature music performances covering a range of genres, including rock, country and disco. There will also be a battle of the bands, a songwriters contest, a silent auction, food vendors from around the D-FW area, children’s activities and more, organizers said in an announcement.

The festival will also include a marketplace with local and regional goods. Accessories, home decor, art and specialty clothing will be among the offerings.”

Several performers have already confirmed their schedule with the festival but additional artists and bands are still yet to confirm according to a Community Impact article from February 16 which lists the lineup,

• Collective Soul

Apart from the awaited performances of artists and bands, there will also be a competition that will feature high school bands according to a Newswire article from March 4. They say,

“Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival will host the 2022 Battle of the Bands Qualifier Round on Saturday, April 30. This epic competition features 12 high school bands who will “throw down” on stage and showcase their talents in front of a panel of judges. The Qualifier Round will take place at 7:00 p.m. at Six Springs Tavern in Richardson, Texas.

Past winners include Texas rocker Griffin Holtby with the Fifth Phoenix (2019) and Clio Cadence, formerly the lead singer of pop-rock Dallas-based band, Love Past Blue (2016). Wildflower! provides an opportunity for aspiring young musicians to debut their authentic sounds on a big stage alongside national headliners that draw thousands of fans.”
