Reducing stubborn body fat can seem like a lost cause for people who have tried to do it relentlessly with a well-balanced diet and rigorous exercise. In reality, there are some areas of the body that just won’t burn that extra unwanted flesh around the abdomen, thighs and waist through conventional means, no matter how strenuous your efforts have been. At Advanced Skin Fitness, we recommend that you try CoolSculpting to get rid of those pockets of fat on your body that you can’t rid of on your own. It’s a safe and effective, FDA cleared technology that freezes and eliminates unwanted fat cells for good. By targeting certain areas of the body and destroying the fat cells in that area, the surrounding tissue is undisturbed. Once the fat cells are dead, they are removed from the body through the body’s natural process. It’s non-surgical, painless and requires no downtime, so you can return to your regular activities after your treatment.
At Advanced Skin Fitness, we offer the all new CoolAdvantage applicators with our CoolSculpting treatments. We utilize all applicators, including the CoolAdvantage which offers treatment for the core, curves, and flat area along with the CoolAdvantage Plus which is the extra-large applicator typically used for the abdomen, as well as the CoolSmooth for outer thighs, and the CoolMini which is used for double chin, knees, and bra fat. So, if you have stubborn fat, specifically in the lower and upper abdomen, flanks or “love handles”, back fat, bra fat, inner or outer thighs, “banana roll” below the buttocks, upper arms, or double chin the contours of the abdomen, CoolSculpting with CoolAdvantage will help you get the results you want in less time per session, than a traditional CoolSculpting treatment.
By using the new CoolAdvantage applicator, the Coolsculpting procedure can be safely performed with an applicator cup to increase direct tissue contact at a lower temperature, which cuts the treatment time in half to about 30 minutes. The all new CoolAdvantage applicators also treat a larger area and remove more fat than the previous CoolSculpting applicators as well as offering less discomfort and much higher patient satisfaction.
For patients who are getting CoolSculpting treatment for the first time or have decided to give CoolAdvantage a try, there are a series of questions that some patients may have before the procedure. Here are some common ones.
How does CoolSculpting work?
A cooling device is used on targeted areas of fat, so that the fat cells are destroyed and naturally eliminated from the body.
A technician gently marks an area of fat that you want to reduce, then with proper selection of the various applicators, the carefully positioned applicator attaches to the body with suction and safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin. The treated fat cells are crystallized-frozen, then die, without disturbing the surrounding tissue. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates the dead cells, which subsequently begins to show a slimmer more contoured body.
How much does CoolSculpting cost?
CoolSculpting costs range between $1200 and $6000 for a complete, customized treatment plan depending on the area to be treated and the amount of fat to be treated.
The pricing of the CoolSculpting procedure can vary depending on the medical spa and the number of areas being treated. Depending on the applicator, one area requires about 30 to 45 minutes to complete the process and can cost between $600 – $900 per area. The size of the applicator can affect the cost of the procedure. Different applicators will have different costs. For example, the new CoolAdvantage Core may cost more than the older CoolCore applicator. Typically, the CoolSmooth and CoolMini are slightly more expensive. For larger areas that require a larger applicator CoolMax or CoolAdvantage Plus, the increased size will reflect the price and drive the cost up to the higher range.
How does CoolSculpting work with CoolAdvantage and which areas of the body is each CoolSculpting Advantage applicator used for?
There are four special applicators: CoolMax, CoolCore. CoolCurve and CoolFit for four specific regions of the body.
CoolMax is normally used for larger areas like the lower and upper abdomen but can also be used to “debulk” large fatty areas of the back.
CoolCore is the applicator that’s best used for the contours of the abdomen but can also be used on the back for bra fat.
CoolCurve is typically applied around the flanks or “love handles” area but can also be used on the back of the thighs.
CoolFit focuses on flatter areas of fat like the inner thigh and the back of the arm and is occasionally used to treat areas of the back.
Is Coolsculpting uncomfortable or painful?
CoolSculpting is not painful and involves little discomfort.
Patients should expect to feel an extreme cooling sensation in the areas where they want fat reduction. After a few minutes, the area will be numb, so the patient should feel comfortable enough to read a magazine during the procedure.
Are there any side effects or downtime associated with the CoolSculpting procedure?
Patients may experience some mild, but temporary, discomfort after the procedure. They should be able to return to their normal activities the same day of the procedure.
After the CoolSculpting treatment, some patients may notice a little swelling, redness and itching, but these minor effects should clear up within days. Treatments with the new CoolAdvantage applicator have drastically different rates of side effects than previous applicators.
When will I see results from CoolSculpting?
Patient results are typically measured 3 months after the last treatment but most patients notice results much sooner.
Depending on the patient, noticeable results can occur between 3 weeks and 3 months. CoolSculpting permanently removes fat cells just like traditional liposuction, Smart Lipo, UltraShape, SculpSure, and Vanquish Fat Reduction.
Everyone’s body is different, so results from CoolSculpting may be evident as soon as 3 weeks, although most patients aren’t able to measure the results until at least 8 weeks. To see the final transformation from the procedure, a patient should expect a 3-4-month time-span. Some patients follow a recommendation of 2-3 treatments spaces 6-8 weeks apart for more prominent results and stubborn fat pockets.
Patients will gradually begin to see the fat reduction and contouring of their bodies in due time. It’s just necessary to allow for this length of time, because of the natural way the body expels the frozen fat cells, which are now dead.
Are the results from CoolSculpting Permanent?
Once the fat cells are destroyed with the CoolSculpting treatment, those fat cells are gone permanently just like with other forms of fat reduction such as liposuction.
Although the fat cells are gone, you should stick with a healthy diet and regular exercise to prevent accumulating fat in more unwanted areas.
How long does each CoolSculpting treatment take? How many do I need?
With CoolAdvantage, each treatment should take about 30 minutes. The amount of treatments that you need will depend on how much fat you want to reduce. Two treatments per area are typical, spaced about 6 weeks apart.
You can usually expect to notice results about three weeks after the procedure and the most extreme results in about one to three months. If you want to increase the fat reduction and contouring, have more treatments in multiple areas.
Can I do CoolSculpting at home and where do I buy the equipment?
CoolSculpting machines are only available through a medical facility after a physician consultation. The device is produced by Zeltiq who holds the patent for this cryolipolysis technology.
The Coolsculpting machine was designed for physicians and aesthetic specialists to operate in a controlled environment, such as an office or medical spa. Professionals are certified, specially trained and supervised while learning to implement the procedure.
To achieve the best aesthetic results, it’s recommended that a patient consults a certified professional who specializes in body contouring processes. They will be able to evaluate the patient, choose the best applicator for the fatty area and treat that area without disturbing the surrounding area.
They will also be able to properly address any risks or complications that may occur during the procedure. Each patient is different and reactions to the treatment may vary from patient to patient. Having a trained professional perform the procedure will ensure the best outcomes from the technique and the most comfort during the treatment.
How does CoolSculpting compare with Vanquish?
CoolSculpting freezes the fat cells and destroys them to later be naturally eliminated from the body. Vanquish heats the fat cells, then destroys them with the same elimination process.
Both technologies are non-invasive procedures that destroy fat cells, which are subsequently eliminated from the body naturally. But the stark difference between CoolSculpting and Vanquish is that CoolSculpting uses a cooling technology to destroy targeted fat cells, while it avoids harming the surrounding tissue. Vanquish uses multi-polar radio frequency technology to heat and destroy fat cells, without damaging the surrounding tissue.
CoolSculpting offers more capability for actually “sculpting” the body and can be used on more areas of the body. Vanquish is better for overall “debulking” of the fat on the abdomen or flanks but can’t be used to precisely “sculpt” the body like CoolSculpting.
CoolSculpting vs Lipo. What’s the Difference?
CoolSculpting is non-invasive and Liposuction is more of an invasive surgical procedure that requires more time to recover.
CoolSculpting, like Liposuction targets specific areas of the body to reduce fat cells and contour your shape. What makes them vastly different is that CoolSculpting does not use needles to penetrate the skin like the liposuction laser and it requires no downtime. Liposuction requires at least a week recovery before resuming normal activities and may take 3-4 months to fully recover, along with aftercare. Liposuction can use a laser to melt the fat and suck it from the body such as with LASER Lipo, but CoolSculpting uses an applicator to freeze the fat and lets the body naturally remove the dead cells from the body.
The cost of CoolSculpting is significantly lower than liposuction. Coolsculpting starts at a $600 price point and Liposuction starts at a $2900 price point.
CoolSculpting takes about 30-45- minutes for each area. Liposuction varies in length depending on the amount of fat being removed.
